- Positron Emission Tomography
- Radioactive substance injected and detected as it passes through brain
- Allows detection of active areas of the brain.

Patient cannot understand visual or spoken communication therefore their own spoken communication does not make sense.

Patient can understand visual and spoken communication but cannot produce any sensible spoken or written language.
