Brain Lobes Flashcards
1
Q
What is the Frontal Lobe and what are its functions?
A
- Frontal Lobe is the largest lobe
- It is the Primary Motor Cortex = in charge of voluntary muscle control
- Also is in charge of thinking, personality, problem solving, decision making, emotional regulation, and attention span
- Brocca’s area is in charge of speech
2
Q
What are the Temporal Lobe functions?
A
- Primary auditory cortex = Receives auditory info from ears and then processes it so we understand what we are hearing
- Hippocampus = where episodic memories are formed which are autobiographical memories of events
- Amygdala = attaches emotion to memories
3
Q
What are the Parietal Lobe functions?
A
- Processing inputs from the senses especially touch, pressure, temperature, muscle movement
4
Q
What are the functions of the Occipital Lobe?
A
- Primary Visual Cortex = receives visual info from eyes and then processes it so we understand depth, distance, location, identity of object seen
5
Q
What are the functions of the Cerebellum?
A
- Fine motor control = balance + coordination
