Brain Flashcards
Medulla Oblongata
Responsible for respiration and circulation, also regulates digestion, sneezing, and swallowing.
Pons
Relay signals from forebrain to cerebellum, controls breathing and communication with other parts of the brain, also sensations like hearing, taste, and balance.
Hypothalamus
maintains homeostasis, processes horomones
Frontal lobe
motor function, problem solving, memory, language
Parietal Lobe
Integrated sensory information to preform a single perception, usually deals with vision.
Occipital lobe
Visual processing center
Corpus Callosum
consists of many axons that interconnect in the two hemispheres.to integrate motor, sensory, and cognitive performances between cerebral and cortex sides of the brain
Thalamus
Acts as a relay between different subcortical areas and the cerebral cortex. Every sensory system includes a thalamic nucleus that receives and sends sensory signals.
Cerebellum
Receives information from the sensory systems, the spinal cord, and other parts to regulate movements, controls voluntary movements.
Temporal Lobe
high level auditory processing, primary auditory perception, holds primary auditory cortex
