MATTHEW - “Fulfillment”/Discourse-Oriented Gospel (28)
Characteristics & Themes: Bringing the Gospel treasure out to the people. Teach obedience to Jesus’ commands, making disciples, leading people to faith in Christ. Matthew writes as a Jew for Jews and Jewish Christians as well he is a Christian writing to Christians. There are four theological motifs: 1) Jesus is the Son of God; 2) the Kingdom of God; 3) the Salvation of God; 4) the People of God.

MARK - “Jesus As The Lord”/Action-Oriented Gospel / Immediate (16)
Characteristics & Themes: Mark is writing to Gentile Christians who are suffering persecution. Mark highlights the major episodes in Jesus’ ministry that prove him to be the great servant preacher who announces the good news of God’s saving reign.
Time: 50’s or 60’s A.D.
