Bones of Cranium Flashcards
The anterior portion of cranium, that forms the forehead.
Frontal bone
Bones are paired. This form most of the roof and upper sides of the cranium.
Parietal bones
Back part of the skull and base of the cranium
Occipital bone
Form sides and base of the cranium. House the canal knows as “external auditory meatus”
Temporal bone
Wedge-shaped bone at the base of the skulls. Makes contact with all other cranial bones
Sphenoid bone
Spongy bone located at the roof and sides of nose. Separates nasal cavity from the brain. Forms portion of each orbit.
Ethmoid bone
The three tiny bones located in each middle ear (Auditory Ossicles):
> Malleus
> Incus
> Stapes
Form upper part of bridge of the nose
Two nasal bones
Articulates with frontal bones
Two zygomatic bones
Form most of the upper jaw
Two maxillary bones
Form anterior part of hard palate of the mouth and the floor of the nose
Two palatine bones
Make up part of the orbit (eye) at the inner angle
Two lacrimal bones
Form part of the interior of the nose
Two inferior conchae
Forms base of nasal septum
Vomer bone
Only movable bone of the skull
