Facet
A smooth flat articular surface (articular facets of vertebrae)
Head
The prominent expanded end of a bone, sometimes rounded (head of humerus or femur)
Crest
A narrow elevated ridge of bone (iliac crest of hip)
Epicondyle
A projection superior to a Condyle (medial Epicondyle of the humerus or femur)
Line
A slightly raised, elongated ridge (nuchal lines of occipital bone)
Process
Any bony prominence (mastoid process, zygomatic process)
Protuberance
A bony outgrowth or protruding part (mental protuberance of chin)
Ramus
A branch (Ramus of mandible)
Spine
A sharp slender process (spine of scapula)
Trochanter
2 massive processes unique to the femur (greater or lesser trochanter to the femur)
Tubercle
A small rounded process (greater or lesser tubercle of humerus)
Tuberosity
A rough elevated surface (tibial tuberosity)
Alveolus
A pit or socket (tooth socket)
Fossa
A shallow broad or elongated basin (iliac fossa)
Fovea
A small pit (fovea Capitis of the femur)
