What are the 3 types of fractures?

A

Simple Fractures - Hairline/greenstick fracture, crack in the bone not broken through completely

Compound - bone breaks into separate pieces, fractured bone is exposed to the outside of the skin. Results in muscle and ligament damage

Comminuted - bone is split into multiple small fragments. Hardware (plates, pins, screws etc) is used to realign and repair bone
