Why do fractures occur?
A
Poor nutrition
infection
Physical accidents
bone weakness (mostly for the elderly)

How can fracture be prevented?
A
Physical activity (to make bones stronger) Vitamin D and Calcium intake Low risk factor

What are the 3 types of fractures?
A
Simple Fractures - Hairline/greenstick fracture, crack in the bone not broken through completely
Compound - bone breaks into separate pieces, fractured bone is exposed to the outside of the skin. Results in muscle and ligament damage
Comminuted - bone is split into multiple small fragments. Hardware (plates, pins, screws etc) is used to realign and repair bone
