Blood vessels Flashcards
1
Q
Temporal Arteritis
A
inflammatory branches of aortic arch, including temporal arteries flu like symptoms headache in the temporal region ocular symptoms, including vision loss tongue pain and jaw claudication
2
Q
Arterial aneurysm
A
X1.5 times diameter, by weak arterial wall
usually result of atherosclerosis
localized pulsatile swelling, thrill, bruit
asymptomatic until dissection/ compressing adjacent structure
3
Q
Raynaud Phenomenon
A
exaggerated spasm of digital arterioles in response to cold
Primary: no underlying cause. Triphastic demacated skin pallor, cyanosis, reperfusion
Secondary: underlying connective tissue disease, can have intense pain from digital ischemia
4
Q
Tricuspid Regurgitation
A
most common r/t RV dilation
if severe, right side heart failure
v wave is more prominent and occurs earlier, merging with c wave
holosystolic murmur in tricuspid region
5
Q
Coaractation of aorta
A
most common in descending aortic arch near the origin of L subclavian artery and ligamentum arteriosum 12% have Turner Syndrome HTN, vascular insufficiency, HF diff in systolic BP between arm and leg weaker/ delayed/ absent femoral pulse
6
Q
Kawasaki Disease
A
acute small vessel vasulitis can result in vascular stenosis and aneurysm fever> 5 days myalgias and arthritis Conjunctival injection Strawberry tongue Hand and feet edema lymphadenopathy polymorphous nonvesicular rash
