Blood Vessel Disorders Flashcards
Hypotension
⬇LOW blood pressure. Causes: aging, poor nutrition, anemia, Addison’s disease, ⬇low blood protein levels or circulatory shock
Hypertension
⬆HIGH or chronic blood pressure. “Silent Killer”. Risk factors: age, diet, obesity, stress, smoking, diabetes mellitus and genetics
Circulatory Shock
not enough blood to fill the vessels and circulate normally
Hypovolemic Shock
⬇LOW blood volume, vasoconstriction, weak pulse, sharp ⬇drop in blood pressure. Symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting, hemorrhage, burns
Vascular Shock
⬆⬆extreme vasodilation, normal blood volume, poor circulation, rapidly ⬇dropping blood pressure. Problems with vasomotor center, nervous regulation,, bacterial infection, allergic reaction
Cardiogenic Shock
❤heart cannot pump adequate blood supply, usually form myocardial damage
Edema
abnormal ⬆increase in interstitial fluid in tissues. Caused by ⬆increased outward pressure or ⬇decreased inward pressure in capillaries
