What determines blood type?
The type of antigens on the surface of their cell membrane of their rbc that trigger a defensive reaction when they are introduces in a foreign body
What does plasma contain in relation to blood type?
Specific antibodies that attach to specific antigens to neutralize them

AB(+)
Who is a universal donor?
O-
What is a blood transfusion?
The transfer of a blood product from one person (donor) to another (recipient)
What is the major risk during a blood transfusion?
Combining an antigen with the antibodies that will attack it, causing agglutination or, in other words, a blood clot
What is blood compatibility?
the possibility of transfusing blood from a donor to a recipient, without causing agglutination
