Indications for red cell transfusion
A
- symptomatic anaemia
- Hb <70g/L
- Hb <80g/L in cardiac disease
- major bleeding
- transfuse a single unit of red cells and then reassess

Indications for platelet transfusion
A
- prophylaxis in patients with BM failure and very low platelet count
- treatment of bleeding in thrombocytopenia patient
- prophylaxis prior to surgery
-procedure in thrombocytopenia patient

Indication for FFP
A
-treatment of bleeding in patient with coagulopathy (PT ratio >1.5)
- prophylaxis prior to surgery (PT >1.5)
- management of massive haemorrhage
- transfuse in early trauma
DO NOT GIVE IN ABSENCE OF BLEEDING OR PLANNED PROCEDURE
