Q

Would someone with low blood pressure become oedamatous?

A

potentially as in sepsis, the vasodilation causes leaky capillaries which will cause low blood pressure because of loss of volume

  • as BP is dropped, water and sodium retention occurs to try and increase it
  • as BP increases, more fluid will be pushed out because the high pressure causes more fluid to leak
  • this also increases your ECF volume
  • can get worse if you give a patient lots of IV fluids
  • would give diuretics here
