Blood, Immune, & Lymph system Flashcards
Blood
made mostly of plasma
Red blood cells
comes from bones, no nucleus cannot regenerate, biconcave shape to increase SA and interactions
Hematopoietic cells
responsible for making red/white/platelet cells
Hemoglobin
carries oxygen into RBC and give its red color
Anemia
too few blood cells, low hemoglobin cannot carry oxygen in blood which decreases muscle function
EPO
hormone released by the kidney that targets bone marrow to increase hemoglobin in blood cell
White blood cells
Never
Let
Monkeys
Eat Bananas
Inflammation
cells in immune system leave your blood and change function
Extravasation
white blood cells move from inside blood vessel to outside
Diapedesis
white blood cell shape change that allow cells to squeeze through capillary slits
Platlets
all about clotting, prevent from bleeding out, injury they activate and form finger like projections
Lymph
fluid collecting duct in tissues, collect through lymphatic system
Lymph nodes
make sure lyphatic fluid is clean before putting back into blood; connected with white blood cell to kill off anything that is not supposed to be there
Lymphedema
fluid in the tissue because lyphatic system not working right
Primary lymphendera
underlying deformitive that causes lymphedema
