Inactivated clotting factors inhibiting prothrombin and thrombin conversion

Heparin get induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) - decreased platelets, life threatening, HIT antibodies

Taken one hour before dose given or whenever for IV admin

Preventing DVT and from clots getting bigger
Long term venous thromboembolic disorders
Given the after MI to decrease stroke, reinfraction and death
Warfarin (Coumadin): Antidote
Vitamin K given when INR is over 5
Warfarin (Coumadin): Action
Prevents clotting factors in the liver
Doesn’t effect clotting of platelet function until 3-5 days
Warfarin (Coumadin): INR
2.5-3.5
Warfarin (Coumadin): A/E
Bleeding: IV site, brushing, gums, stool and urine

Prevent DVT and PE
