Block VI Flashcards
What elements compose the fire tetrahedron?
Heat, fuel, oxygen, and chemical chain reaction
Class Alpha Fire
Combustible materials like wood, cloth, fibrous materials, paper.
Use H20 and AFFF
Class Bravo Fire
Flammable liquids like gas, oil, jet fuel, etc.
Use AFFF, Halon 1211, PKP, and CO2
Class Charlie Fire
Electrical.
If energized - use CO2, PKP, H20 in fog patterns with min. distance of 4 ft.
Class Delta Fire
Combustible metals such as magnesium and titanium.
Use H2O in large quantities in high velocity fog from safe distance
Noncorrosive and have an unlimited shelf life when stored in protected area.
3% and 6% approved for naval use.
Shipboard use is 6%
AFFF
Colorless, faintly sweet smelling, electrically nonconductive gas that leaves no residue to clean up
Halon 1211
Breaks combustion chain and does not have cooling capabilities
PKP
