Special Use Airspace
Airspace is established where activities conducted within that airspace must be confined due to their nature.
Prohibited Areas
Established for security or other reason associated within national welfare.
Restricted Area
Denote the existence of unusual, often invisible hazards to aircraft.
Warning Area
Denote the presence of hazardous activity to non participating aircraft in international airspace.
3 NM outward of coast.
Military Operations Area (MOA)
Established for the purpose of separating military training activities from air traffic.
Alert Areas
Established to inform nonparticipating aircraft of high density student training.
Controlled Firing Area
Hazardous Activities
Activities will be suspended when aircraft approaches area.
Terminal Radar Service Area (TRSA)
- Area within which radar service is provided.
- not mandatory however highly recommended.
Primarily class D, surrounding class E
Airport Advisory Area
Service available within 10 miles of an airport with a FSS on the field where a control tower is not operating.
Parachute Jump area
Depicted on sectional chart.
Published in AFD
Published VFR Routes
Used to transition through or around complex airspace.
Military Training Routes (MTR)
Used for low altitude high speed training.
Generally below 10,00 msl exceed 250 KT.
Military Training Route classification (IR and VR)
VR- 1500 agl and lower
IR- 1500 agl and higher
National security Areas
Established at locations where increased security and safety of ground facilities is required.
