Bite Blocks and Custom Trays (Prior to Lab Session) Flashcards
When do you use wax occlusal rims on light cured acrylic resin base?
if the casts cannot be hand articulated due to lack of stable occlusal contacts in ICP
What is used if the casts cannot be hand articulated due to lack of a sable occlusal ICP?
wax occlusal rims on light cured acrylic resin base
What needs to occur to design frameworks?
must be able to articulate the primary casts
When the model is made, what do you survey for?
undercut, mark with a black pencil the most bulbus point
use a small amount of wax to block out the undercut
Where do place wax in the model?
gingival margin
proximal surfaces
embrasures
Why apply wax to the model?
to obtain a stable and retentive record base and yet avoid the damage on the cast
Before apply acrylic, what do you apply?
Vaseline as a separator
What is the desired thickness of acrylic on the resin?
2-3mm
Wjere do you extend the acrylic to on the resin cast?
just above the cingulum area
What do you do before adding the wax rim?
roughen the acrylic surface for mechanical retention
What is happening here?
wax blocks applied to saddle areas
What height are the bite blocks?
height of teeth
Does the bite block go in the sulcus area?
slightly short, note 2-3 mm short of vestibule
What is there a gap between the bite blocks?
for the bite registration paste
done before final registration of the bite block
How do type of denture differ at this stage?
acrylic partial at this stage, bite blocks are prescribed to be constructed on the 2nd impressions and so the special trays are required first
