A
- Intervention must be geared toward pervasiveness and persistence of functional deficits.
- Self-esteem and self-concept are likely to be damaged by the chronic nature of the disorder.
The practitioner helps clients identify strengths and weaknesses and likes and dislikes through exposure to a wide range of activities. - Needed skills may have been lost or never acquired. The practitioner uses educational approaches, social skills training, and cognitive–behavioral approaches.
- Improve self-esteem and increase motivation.
- Provide opportunities for self-expression.
- Provide outlets for different emotions.
- Provide opportunities to focus on values, beliefs, spirituality, and emotional regulation
