a. Cognitive–behavioral therapy: challenging automatic thoughts, reducing cognitive distortions, challenging underlying beliefs and assumptions, making use of mental imagery, controlling recurrent thoughts, controlling behavior

b. Behavior modification

c. Educational interventions, including safety awareness

d. Social skills training

e. Modifying classroom environments, especially the organization of space and objects

f. Self-management techniques

g. Zones of Regulation: A curriculum developed by an occupational therapist to teach children about regulating their emotions and sensory needs. The program also teaches children strategies to use to reach the optimal state of regulation. The four zones include the following:
i. Red zone: high state of alert/arousal; intense emotions
ii. Yellow zone: less arousal than red zone, but still a more heightened state of alertness than normal; includes high emotions that are related to stress, anxiety, nervousness, or feeling extremely silly
iii. Green zone: optimal state of alertness; ready to learn, work, or play; calm but attentive
iv. Blue zone: less than optimal state; could be experiencing sadness, illness, boredom, or fatigue

h. Interventions to enhance sensory modulation and support organizational routines
