what is bipolar 1?
manic episode (depressive not needed)
what is bipolar 2?
hypomania and depressive episode
Tx of bipolar?
Li and atypical antipsychotic/anticonvulsants
monitoring for Li?
U+Es, TFT and ECG on starting
Li and U+Es every 3 mnths
TFTs every 6
e.gs of atypical antipsychotics?
clozapine
risperidone
apriprazole
monitoring for clozapine?
start on ECG (myocarditis)
FBC weekly for 6, fortnightly for 6, then monthly
what anticonvulsants are good for what?
valporate - mania
lamotrigine - depression
