Biophotonics and microwave imaging Flashcards
1
Q
What is there different between radiometry and photometry? Provide some measurement units for both.
A
- Radiometry: Measurement of the energies of radiation (e.g. radiant energy (J), radiant power (W), irradiance (W/m^2)).
- Photometry: Measurement of aspects related to vision (e.g. luminous energy (J), luminous power (lm), illuminance (lm/m^2)).
2
Q
What are the general safety concerns for UV, VIS, IR and RF?
A
- UV, VIS and IR pose risks to the skin and eyes (UV posing the highest risk).
- RF can cause tissue heating.
3
Q
What are some control measures to minimise exposure?
A
- Time, distance and shielding.
- Reducing energy levels.
- Systems of work (e.g. staff training etc.).
