What are the functions of protein in the body?
Build new tissues

Repair damaged cells or tissues and replace dead cells
Build body structures like hair and nails
Formation of enzymes, hormones, antibodies, and haemoglobin
What is Kwashiorkor?
A protein deficiency disease.
What are the symptoms of Kwashiorkor?
Edema or swollen appearance due to fluid retention
Bulging of the abdomen
An inability to grow or gain weight
What is Marasmus?
A protein deficiency disease.
What are the symptoms of Marasmus?
Weight loss
Dehydration
Chronic diarrhea
Stomach shrinkage
