15
Q

Centrioles

A

Cylindrical substances that organize microtubules during division.

16
Q

Cytosol

A

Liquid part of cytoplasm that provides structural support.

17
Q

Lysosomes

A

Breaks down macromolecules, old cell parts, and micro-organisms.

18
Q

Cell Phases: Interphase

A

Cell grows, DNA is replicated

19
Q

Cell Phases: Prophase

A

Chromatin condenses into chromosomes.

20
Q

Cell Phases: Metaphase

A

Chromosomes line up in the center of the cell and single fibers attach to the centromeres of the cell.

21
Q

Cell Phases: Anaphase

A

Separates genetic material of parent cell into two identical daughter cells.

22
Q

Cell Phases: Telophase/Cytokinesis

A

FINAL STAGE – chromosomes move in opposite directions so two new cells can be formed from one.

23
Q

DNA vs RNA

A
  1. DNA is double-stranded, forming a double helix, while RNA is usually single-stranded.
  2. The sugar in DNA is deoxyribose, whereas RNA contains ribose.
  3. DNA uses the bases adenine, THYMINE, cytosine, and guanine, while RNA uses adenine, URACIL, cytosine, and guanine.
