Biology 2.5 (Phases of a Cell) Flashcards

1
Q

Q

What is metaphase

A
  • Chromosomes line up in the centre of the cell (equator)
  • Attached to the spindle fibers by thei centromere*

Q

What is anaphase

A
  • The two identical chromatids split apart
  • Spindle fibers pull chromosomes to opposing sides of the cell

Q

What is cytokinesis (Not mitosis)

A
  • Cell is divided into two parts
  • (In animal cells) Cell membrane pinches in
  • (In plant cells) New cell wall (made of cellulose) is formed between new cells
