Q

the process to get a piece of tissue ready

A

the tissue is preserved using a reagant, usually formaldehyde,

  • now the tissue is embedded and infiltrated with parrafin wax
  • makes it stiff and easier to cut, now the microtome is used to cut or shave very small pieces
  • the sections are mounted indicidually on glass slides
  • the wax is dissolved away by multiple baths and then the tissue is immersed in a series of stains
  • stain provides contrasts between different parts of the

Q

tissue hierarchal

A

atoms join together to form molecules
molecoles join together to form cellular organelles
cellular organelles join together to form cell
cells form tissues
tissues form organs
organs form organism
