Q

What abiotic factor leads to increased solubility of carbonate in the ocean?

A

Carbon dioxide is dissolved in seawater, which forms carbonic acid. This splits to produce bicarbonate ions and hydrogen ions and the carbonate ions then bond with the more avilable hydrogen ions.
