What is biodiversity?
A
- Biodiversity is a term for the enormous variety of life on earth.
- It can refer to all the species in a region or ecosystem. - - Biodiversity refers to every living thing: plants, humans, bacteria, humans.

What 2 measurements are in the Simpson’s biodiversity index?
A
- The richness of the species diversity in the ecosystem; i.e. the number of species there are in an ecosystem.
- The evenness of the species in the ecosystem. i.e. The abundance of each of the species.

How can we calculate biodiversity?
A
D= N(N-1) over Σ * n(n-1) D= diversity index N= total number of all organisms of all species found n= number of individuals in a particular species Σ= 'the sum of' * = times

Why is biodiversity important?
A
It has an importance on global and local scale. If we lose biodiversity, not always can one organism fill in the shoes of another organism, and we could lose things like; clean air, fresh crops, animal life etc.
