Q

How can we calculate biodiversity?

A
D= N(N-1) over Σ * n(n-1)
D= diversity index
N= total number of all organisms of all species found
n= number of individuals in a particular species
Σ= 'the sum of'
* = times

Q

Why is biodiversity important?

A

It has an importance on global and local scale. If we lose biodiversity, not always can one organism fill in the shoes of another organism, and we could lose things like; clean air, fresh crops, animal life etc.
