Q

index of diversity formula

A

d = N(n-1) / Sum n (n-1)

N - total number of organisms of all species
n - total number of organisms of one species
sum - sum of (added together)

Q

how does agriculture impact biodiversity

A
  • woodland clearance to increase farmland area - directly reduce no of trees and then destroys habitats - hedgerow removal - increase farmland by turning lots of small fields in 1 big field
  • pesticides - k ills insects , reduce bio
  • herbicides - kills unwanted weeds, reduce food source and bio
  • monocultures - less niches/habitats/ food sources
