20
Q

Dehydration reaction

A

An elimination reaction in which the small molecule removed is water

21
Q

Hydrolysis

A

a type of decomposition reaction where one reactant is water.

22
Q

Bio molecule (macromolecule)

A

a molecule with a very large number of atoms.

23
Q

Carbohydrates

A

Organic compound made of sugar molecules

24
Q

Lipids

A

One of a class water-avoiding compounds

25
Q

Protein

A

Polymer constructed from a set of 20 amino acid monomers

26
Q

why is water a polar molecule ?

A

Water is considered to be a polar molecule because there are different charges between the ends of the molecule. This means that one end of a water molecule has a positive charge while the other end has a negative charge. Opposing charges make a polar molecule.
