Bio Chapter 8 and ( Flashcards
(Adenosine triphosphate) made of a nitrogen base, ribos, and 3 phosphate groups.
ATP
Same as ATP but only 2 phosphate groups.
ADP
Helps plants create their own food, gives plants their green color.
Chlorophyll
The process by which plants make their own food using sunlight, water, and CO2.
Photosynthesis
Absorbs sunlight for photosynthesis.
Pigment
Where light dependent reactions happen, sac like vessels. Found in the chloroplast.
Thylakoid
Also in the chloroplast, a stack of thylakoid.
Granum
The fluid in the chloroplast that surround the granum.
Stroma
An electron carrier
NADP+
Happen in the thylakoid and produces ATP and NADPH which are both used in the calvin cycle.
Light Dependent Reactions
Turns H+ ions into ADP or ATP.
ATP Synthase
Happens in the stroma and produces G3P, ADP, and NAD+
Calvin Cycle
the chemical equation for photosynthesis.
6 CO2 + 6 H2O - C6H12O2 + O2
What compound provides electrons and hydrogen ions for the light dependent reactions?
Water!!!!!
Where in the chloroplast do the light reactions take place? Where does the calvin cycle take place?
Light reactions take place in the thylakois while the calvin cycle takes place in the stroma.
