What is intellectual property?
- a creation of the human mind that is unique and has a commercial value
What is a patent?
an exclusive right granted to an inventor to make, use and sell an invention for a fixed period of time.

A copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives the creator of an original work, or another right holder, the exclusive and legally secured right to copy,
What is license?
a software license establishes rules of use and outlines any restrictions that may apply, to the user when using the software, it thus states that they don’t own it.
What is Creative Commons?
an organization that allows people to set copyright terms for their intellectual property. One use of Creative Commons licence is to allow people to copy material as long as it is not used commercially.
What is open-source software?
software that is free to edit and redistribute.
What is propriety software?
software that belongs to an individual or a company, Its license’s specifies that users are not allowed to modify the source code and place restrictions on its use.
What are the 3 advantages and 3 disadvantages of open-source software?
AD:
- it is free to use.
- It can be modified.
- It can be used to demonstrate programming concepts.
DIS:
-It might not be particularly user-friendly and might look unprofessional.
- There might be little or no technical support.
- criminals may be able to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in the code.
