big to small exam Flashcards
what are the chemical elements in all proteins
hydrogen, oxygen, carbon and nitrogen
which statement is true
starch is a monomer of glucose
amino acids all look identical
lipids contain nitrogen
sucrose is a carbohydrate
sucrose is a carbohydrate
the definition of a gene is
the part of DNA that codes for a specific characteristic
what are the 4 bases of DNA
CGAU CATO CTAG CGAH
CTAG
which is the most complex organisation level
organ, organ system, tissue or cell
organ system
where does the respiration of the cell happen
mitochondria
which is the smallest unit of measurement
metre, micrometre, nanometre or millimetre
nanometre
what happens in chloroplasts
light is used to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose
where are the chromosomes located in a cell
the nucleus
which is the food test for protein
benedicts test
emulsion test
biuret test
iodine test
biuret test
define a tissue
it is many similar cells performing a particular function together
describe the food test for glucose
3MARKS
you place a small sample of food into test tubes, then add enough benedicts solution for the foot to appear blue. then place the tubes in hot water for 5 minutes and if there is glucose present it will turn blue to brick red.
compare and contrast an animal & plant cell, give similarities and differences
3MARKS
the similarities between a plant cell and an animal cell are that they both contain a cell membrane, mitochondria, ribosomes, a nucleus and a cytoplasm. the differences are that the plant cell contains a cell wall, chloroplasts and a vacuole which the animal cell does not contain.
what am i
i am multicellular
my cells contain chloroplasts and i have a cellulose cell wall

what am i
i am much smaller than most
i am unicellular
i have no nucleus
