Things to know about windows of heaven points
- All points except two are on the neck
- 7/10 points have the word “tian” in their name
- Regulating and descending qi to and from the head. Like a sky light tying heaven in
- Move the yin to the upper body and yang to the lower
Indications of window of heaven points
- Cough or wheezing from rebellious LU qi or vomiting from rebellious ST qi.
- HA and dizziness and heat, redness or swelling of face and eyes
- Goiter, scrofula, or throat disorders
- Sudden onset of disorders
- Emotional disorders
- Disorders of the sense organs
Window of sky points: 10
ST9, LI18, SJ16, UB10, LU3, PC1, RN22, SI16, SI17, DU16
Functions & clinical significance of divergent channels
- strengthen yin and yang relationship btwn int./ext. paired channels & zangfu
- distribute qi and blood to head and face (esp. yin channels)
- integrate areas of body not supplied or interconnected by the primary channels
- help explain clinical action of some commonly-use acupuncture points. (ex. BL57/BL58)
Functions of 8 EVs
- are reservoirs
- link the 12 primary channels
- protect the body from EPFs
Functions of LUO channels
- strengthen the connection btwn int./ext. paired channels and zangfu
- tx. disorders reached by luo channel
- psycho-emotional disorders

travels to palmar and thenar eminence; poor memory, propensity to laughter

travels to teeth, jaw and ear;

travels to nap of neck, head and throat; mania-depression mad laughter, great happiness, desires to ascend to high places and sing, discards clothing and runs around, seeing ghosts

travels to abdomen, ST, INTS; mania-depression disorder, mani raving, insomnia, restlessness, GB xu, much sighing

follows the HT to the HT, base of tongue and eye; frequent yawning and groaning w/ sadness, vexation and anger, sadness and fright, frequent agitation w/ burning sensation in HT, depressive disorder

-circulate on periphery of body, DO NOT penetrate zangfu, originate at extremities and ascend to head or trunk, follow course of associated channel but are wider, more superficial and follow lines of major mm groups, tendons, ligaments, etc.
