Stanley Baldwin was a prime minister between the 2 world wars and was decribesd as being hard faced as he profited of the war.

Dramatic irony as in the end the Titanic does sink. The Titanic could represent wealth power and symbolise capatalism as a majority of the passerngers on the Titanic consisted of rich and powerful people.

Adjectives to describe Daisy. Shows how women were treated in a capitalistic, patriarchal society and shows that people at the time had no respect for women and didn’t view them as people. Despite this outrages statemnet both Shiela and Mrs Birling said nothing and Preistly is trying to encourage the audiance to speak out and enforce change.
