Persistant Complex Bereavement Disorder

A

The individual experienced death with someone she or he had a close relationship with

  • since death, at least one of the following symtpoms is exerpienced for at least 12 months after the death of bereaved adults and 6 months for bereaved children
    1. Yearning for deceased
    2. Intense sorrow and emotional pain in response to death
    3. Preoccupation with deceased
    4. Preoccupation with the circumstances of the death
  • since death, at least 6 of teh following symptoms are experienced on more days than not
    1. difficulty accepting the death
    2. experiencing disbeleif or emotional numbness over loss
    3. difficulty with positive reminscing about the decased
    4. bitterness or anger related to the loss
    5. Maladaptive appraisals about oneself in relation to the decased or the death
    6. excessive avoidance of reminders of the loss
    7. a desire to die to be with deceased
    8. difficulty trusting others since the death
    9. Feeling that life is meaningless or empty without the deceased or the blief that one cannot function without the deceased
    10. Feeling alone
    11. confusion about one’s role in life
    12. Difficulty or reluctance to pursue interests since the loss or to plan for the future
  • Causes signficant distres in functioning
  • reaction is out of proportion with cultural, religious or age appropriate norms.

Suicidal Behavior Disorder

A

within the last 24 months, individual has made a suicide attempt

  • the act does not meet criteria for nonsuicidal self injury — that is, it does not involve self injury directed to surface of the body undertaken to induce relief from a negative feeling cognitive state or to achieve a position mood state
  • diagnosis is not applied to suicidal ideation or to preparatory acts
  • act was not initiated ruing a state of delirium or confusion
  • the act was not undertake solely or political or religious objective
  • not more than 12 months since last attempt
  • 12-24 months since last attempt
