- start as light brown, flat macules, progress to velvety, waxy, veracious surface
- multiple eruptive SK’s could indicate an internal malignancy
- basaloid cells
- eventually become keratinocytes and overproduce keratin
- find keratin cysts “horn cysts”

- stratum spinosum
- folds in the neck, axilla, and groin
- when the patient is middle aged or older, could indicate visceral malignancy
- endocrine abnormalities (DM)
