Bell Ringer Flashcards
Gluteus Maximus
Extension of the hip, External rotation
Inferior Gluteal Nerve (L5, S2, S1)
Gluteus Medius
Abducts and medial rotates @ hip
Superior Gluteal Nerve ( L5, S1)
Gluteus Minimus
Abducts and medially rotates the hip Superior Gluteal (L5, S1)
Pectineus
Adduction of the hip Femoral N (L2, L3)
Medial Compartment
Adductor Brevis :
Adductor Magnus : Adductor part and hamstring part ( extends the hip)
Adductor Longus:
All Obturator N
Hamstring section of magnus: tibial part of sciatic N (L4)
Gracilis
Obturator N
Adduction of hip
Deep Rotators
Piriformis: Anterior/ Ventral Rami of S1/2
Quadratus Femoris: Nerve to quadratus femoris (L5,S1)
Obturator Externus: Obturator N
Obturator Internus: Nerve of obturator internus
Gemellus Superior: Nerve of obturator internus
Gemellus Inferior: Nerve to quadratus femoris (L5,S1)
All these muscles stabilize the head of the femur in the acetabular socket and Laterally rotate head of the femur in acetabulum
Iliopsoas
Psoas Minor:Anterior/Ventral Rami of lumbar spinal nerves L1 and L2
Psoas Major : Anterior/Ventral rami of L1, L2 and L3
Illiacus:Femoral Nerve (L2, L3)
Flex the hip joint- flex thigh at hip joint
Tensor Fasciae Latae
Superior Gluteal Nerve
Abducts the Leg
Sartorius
Femoral N
Flex, Abduct and laterall rotate
the tailors muscle
Quadriceps
Rectus Femoris : Femoral N , flexes hip, extends knee Vastus Lateralis - extends knee Vastus Medialis- extends knee Vastus intermedius -extends knee All Femoral N
Hamstrings
All sciatic Nerve
Semitendinosus: Hip extension and knee flexion- some medial rotation
Semimembranosus: Hip extension and knee flexion
Biceps Femoris: Hip extension and knee flexion- some lateral rotation
Popliteus
