Belief: she must not have so much confidence in the way she looks Flashcards
Empirically I’ve proven that I haven’t ceased to be when I’ve noticed her being comfortable with how she looks. Just because it’s my desire that she act in a more humble way, it does not mean that I cannot bear it when she doesn’t. It does not help me to think I can’t cope as it upsets me more when she behaves in this way.
I might not like her high self confidence but I can and do cope with these feelings.
Empirically it is not possible that one person’s confidence affect the worth of another. My desire that she feel a certain way does not mean that my worth changes if she doesn’t. It does not help me to think this way, it lowers my self confidence.
My worth does not depend on anyone. I accept myself as a worthy human being.
Empirically: there is no natural law to say people can’t have confidence in the way they look. Just because it’s my desire does not mean that she must be more humble. It doesn’t help for me to rigidly require that she be this way as when she does not change, I feel hurt.
I’d prefer it if she didn’t have so much confidence in the way she looks but that doesn’t mean she must be different
