Q

Why did Belfast have a bad representation?

A

30 year period of conflict called ‘The Troubles’ and the high degree of religious segregation leads to
an image of ‘bombs, bullets and balaclavas’ which dominated newspaper headlines in the late 20th
century.

Peace walls and political parades form important parts of the city’s history, but some argue that this reflects that the city is struggling to move on.
