  • Humans are born as “blank slates” (tabula rasa) who learn from experience
  • All species learn the same way
  • We should only study observable behaviour

A

Unconditioned stimulus -> Unconditioned response
Neutral stimulus -> Neutral response
Unconditioned stimulus + Neutral stimulus -> Unconditioned response
Conditioned stimulus -> Conditioned response

What was the Little Albert Experiment? (Classical conditioning)

A
  • Albert was presented a rat and showed no fear
  • Shown a rat w/ a loud bang and Albert cried
  • Continuously associated rat with bang causing him to experience fear at the sight of it
  • Fear continued to other white stimuli

A

A type of learning that takes place because of actions and rewards. Rewards act as reinforcers for the action to be repeated.
