Behavioural Flashcards
Something you’ve been reading about in the news
- In business, its pretty common to think about debt service coverage ratios and understand that cost of financing is one component, the cyclicality of earnings is another
- Interesting thing to think about, on the personal side concerned about increases in debt service costs, tend to focus on the cost of interest. Not amount of income.
- Just something to think about in general. Often when people think about ratios, they tend to ignore either the numerator or denominator.
Something you’re curious about
identifying, managing and cultivating high performing teams
How would you think about a software business, what are the metrics that matter
returns on capital, churn rates, subs, number of licenses per user, saas vs. perpetual license (how that differs, recognition and timing of revenue), R&D, sales and ebitda per employee, how the company sells, eg. Through value-add distributors, direct, etc.
Generally, like to think about the unit economics, whether a per bed, per seat, per well, 4 wall economics etc
What industries do you specialize in?
Generalists, gravitate towards entreprise software, high quality industrial, interest in b2c but tougher to understand fads etc.
