What does a solitary animal mean?
They live alone
What are some examples of solitary animals?
Female cheetahs, tigers, leopards
What does a eusocial animal mean?
The animal lives in a multi-generational social group.
What are some examples of eusocial animals?
Beavers, snapping shrimp, meerkats
What does monogamous mean?
When two animals pair and mate for a season to years.
What are some examples of monogamous animals?
Swans, gentoo penguins, albatross
What are the 4 types of animal communication?
Auditory, Visual, Olfactory, Tactile
What is an example of auditory communicatiom?
Barking, growling, whining
What is an example of visual communication?
Teeth baring, tail wagging, facial expression
What is an example of olfactory communication?
Scent marking, dogs sniffing each other, stags anointing themselves
What is an example of tactile communication?
Allogrooming, playing
What are the three types of atypical behaviour?
Displacement, redirected, stereotypical
What is the definition of a stereotypical behaviour?
Repetitive actions or movement without a particular aim or goal
What is the definition of a redirected behaviour?
A behavior redirected onto another animal or object
