Enduring self: process of recognizing the current situation’s differences from your past. Support from others is needed to control sense of panic and fear. OT’s can help preserve hope.

Striving to regain self: This is the time to coach and brainstorm with client

A
  1. Inability to lift trunk away from bed at 45-degree angle
  2. Inability to move legs against gravity in supine
  3. Inability to maintain erect sitting at bedside with feet supported
  4. Vital signs outside normal range, or physiological intolerance to effort of rolling and sitting up
  5. Insufficient staff numbers
  6. Significant change in mental or physical status
