what did beck believe?
beck believed that depressed individuals feel as they do because their thinking is biased towards negative interpretations of the world and they lack a perceived sense of control
what does a negative self schema mean?
..it means that we interpret all info about ourselves in a negative way.
*self schema is the package of info we have about ourselves
What is a negative triad?
A cognitive approach to understanding depression focusing on how negative expectations about the world /self/future lead to depression
Why does a person develop dysfunctional view of themselves?
…because there is three types of negative thinking that occur automatically regardless of the reality of what is happening.
