Solvent based have binders dissolved in or containing organic solvents. Water based coatings have binders that are soluble in water (latex & Acrylic)

VEHICLE: its what provides the adhesion.
SOLVENT: Volatile liquids used to improve the working properties of the paint and coating.
PIGMENT: Finley divided solids that add color
ADDITIVES: they modify various properties of the coating, driers are an example that hasten the curing of the coating
