BCO A (Chappell/Meek) Flashcards
Who is the head of the church? How does he exercise his authority?
Jesus Christ is the head of the church.
He exercises his authority by his Word and Spirit by giving his church officers, oracles (revelation), and ordinances.
List at least two key principles of Presbyterian church government. Can the church “bind” men’s consciences?
- Godliness is founded on truth (“By their fruits ye shall know them.”).
- Power of election to authority over a society resides in that society.
No:
1. God alone is Lord of the conscience
2. All church power is only ministerial and declarative because the Scriptures are the only rule of faith and practice
What is the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church in America?
The Constitution of the PCA is the WCF (including the WLC and WSC) and the BCO (Form of Government, Rules of Discipline, and Directory for Worship), subject and subordinate to the Word of God.
