A

(1917) the British built tunnels by extending existing caves that dug to the German lines, to reach the German trench safely. The tunnels hid 24,000 men.(built underground cites)

This resulted Mines being used to blow up enemy trenches, but the British suffered 159,000 casualties

There was 200,000 casualties lost but more medical posts. for medical officers to treat men(379) to help prepare solders for the Ypres salient
