Batteries And Electromagnets Flashcards
What is voltage measured in and what took is used to measure it?
Voltage is measured in volts and is measured with a volt meter.
What is voltage?
Voltage is the force required to move electrons through the circuit.
What is current?
Current is the rate (speed) of the flow of electrons.
What is current measured in and what tool is used to measure it?
Current is measured in amps and is measured with an amp meter.
What is a resistor?
A resistor is a device that doesn’t allow electrons to flow smoothly through a circuit.
What creates a magnetic field?
An electric current
What are the three parts of an electromagnet?
Solenoid (coil of wire), iron core, and source of electric current
How can you tell if the magnetic field is strong or not?
In a magnetic field, the closer the lines are, the stronger it is
What does a motor do?
A motor converts electric energy into mechanical energy.
What does a generator do?
A generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy by using electric magnetic induction.
