What is an assist?
A pass that is made to a teammate who scores immediately after.
What is backcourt?
A player crosses midcourt with the ball and crosses back over.
What is a chest pass?
A two-handed pass that is thrown chest level.
What is a box out?
Boxing out is a way to block an opposing player with your body to prevent them from getting a rebound.
What is defence?
The team not in possession of the ball.
What is double dribbling?
A violation occurs when dribbling with two hands simultaneously.
What is double team?
When two players are on defensive, guard one offensive player.
What is dribbling?
Bouncing the ball with one hand.
What is drive?
Continuous movement toward the basket by an offensive player.
What is a fast break?
A team attempts to move the ball up court and into scoring position as quickly as possible
What is foul line?
Free throw line. (Each free throw is 1 point)
What is give and go?
Passing, then going to another area expecting to receive a return pass.
What is help out?
Moving into position to cover another player’s assignment.
What is an Inside (Key/Paint)?
3 seconds rule on the offensive.
What is man to man?
Person to person defensive coverage.
