1) Core of earth is very hot
2) Heat transfer outwards; to colder surface of the Earth
CONVECTION CURRENT
3) Drag plates to move in different directions
Crust, Mantle and Core composition?
Crust – silica, aluminium, magnesium
Mantle – magnesium, iron
Core – iron, nickel
Crust + uppermost part of mantle =
Lithosphere (solid)
Upper part of mantle =
Asthenosphere (liquid)
What are the states of the 3 composition of Earth?
Crust: solid
Mantle: semi-molten
Outer core: liquid
Inner core: molten
3 composition of Earth’s depth, and material:
Crust: 60-70km, rigid rocks
Mantle: 2900 km, hot molten rocks of magma
Core: 3470 km, heavy metal
